Solar Shingle Installation in Chesapeake, VA
Welcome to Atlantic Craftsman
What Are Solar Shingles and Why Chesapeake Homeowners Are Making the Switch
Solar shingles are a next-generation roofing solution that combines weather protection with the power-generating capability of solar panels. Unlike bulky rack-mounted panels, they lie flush with your roof, giving your home a clean, streamlined look. Atlantic Craftsman installs GAF Timberline Solar shingles, certified through our GAF Master Elite and GAF Energy contractor status. One installation solves two problems at once, protecting your home while generating clean energy.
Chesapeake, VA receives an average of around 213 sunny days per year, giving your roof plenty of opportunity to offset your monthly utility bills. Virginia homeowners can take advantage of the federal Residential Clean Energy Credit, which currently covers 30% of the total installation cost. Local net metering policies through Dominion Energy also allow you to earn bill credits by sending excess power back to the grid.
Installing solar shingles requires a contractor qualified in both roofing and solar energy systems. Atlantic Craftsman holds GAF’s Solar Certification alongside its Master Elite designation, so our team handles everything from structural assessment to final electrical integration. We have been a family and veteran owned business in Chesapeake since 1974, and every installation is backed by strong warranty protection and flexible financing through GreenSky and Wells Fargo.
How Solar Shingle Installation WorksWith Atlantic Craftsman
Step 1: Free Roof Assessment We start with a thorough on-site evaluation of your roof’s condition, pitch, and sun exposure to determine if solar shingles are the right fit for your home. Our team reviews structural integrity and identifies any repairs needed before installation begins. You will receive a clear, no-obligation estimate with no surprises.
Step 2: Professional Installation Our GAF-certified crew removes your existing roofing material and installs GAF Timberline Solar shingles across the designated sections of your roof. Every shingle is secured and weatherproofed to the same standard as a full roof replacement. The result is a seamless surface that protects your home and generates power at the same time.
Step 3: Electrical Hookup & System Activation Once the shingles are in place, our team completes the electrical integration, connecting your new system to your home’s power supply and the Dominion Energy grid. We handle the net metering setup so you can start earning bill credits right away. From that point on, your roof works for you every day the sun is out.
